I qualified as a solicitor (and solicitor-advocate) in 2011 and then worked for large international law firms. A notable highlight was acting for the successful appellant in Abbey vs Simply [2024], a landmark judgment by which the Supreme Court clarified the relationship between construction contracts and collateral warranties. I joined Buckles in 2026.
I specialise in advising on, drafting and negotiating construction & engineering contracts. I also handle disputes using various dispute resolution procedures such as adjudication, mediation, expert determination, arbitration and court proceedings in the TCC. I am a specialist practice consultant for the RIBA and the course leader for the MBL certificate in construction law.
I am bilingual in English and German, and am listed as a Rechtsexperte (legal expert) on englischesrecht.de. I often advise clients with interests in both the UK and Germany. I also serve as German Honorary Consul in Bristol, so I am authorised to authenticate legal documents for use in Germany, akin to a notary public.
In spend most of my free time with my wife and three kids. I also practise Tae Kwon-Do and I am a trustee of the German Saturday School Bristol.
