After spending the year cake baking, hat making, sunflower growing, binning’ and growing beards, the staff at Buckles Solicitors challenge smashing their original fundraising target of £1,000.
To support the Olympics theme in 2012, the team at Buckles organised a decathlon of challenges which encouraged employees to get involved and raise money for Sue Ryder – Thorpe Hall Hospice. The total raised at the end of the year was an amazing £3,534.81.
The series of fundraising activities included making an Easter bonnet competition, baking an Olympic themed cake and growing the largest sunflower. Staff were asked to donate £2 to enter each challenge. In addition over 20 of the staff took part in Thorpe Hall Hospice’s Febru-hairy challenge and raised over £2,000 by growing beards.
Alison Toomey, regional fundraiser for Thorpe Hall Hospice said: “The staff at Buckles have been brilliant. Their enthusiasm and support for the Charity Challenge really did shine through. They definitely put the ‘fun’ into their fundraising. The money they have raised will really make a difference to the patients and families we care for and we are very grateful for their support over the last 12 months.”
