Nationally recognised law firm Buckles Law has strengthened its Private Client team in Cambridgeshire with the appointment of Amy Greer as Partner and Timothy Metcalfe as Senior Associate.
Greer joins from Chattertons and brings more than 15 years’ experience advising on Wills, inheritance tax planning, lasting powers of attorney, Court of Protection applications and the administration of estates.
Metcalfe, who joins from Barr Ellison, advises on Wills, tax and succession planning, trusts, the administration of estates and lasting powers of attorney, as well as mental capacity, domicile and residency issues.
Buckles CEO Duncan Jackson commented: “Demand for private client advice has rarely been higher. The changes to agricultural and business property relief, and the inclusion of pensions in inheritance tax from 2027, mean many families, landowners and business owners need to revisit plans they once considered settled.
“Amy and Tim give us greater depth and capacity at exactly the right time for Buckles and our clients. Both have a reputation for clear, practical advice and will help us support clients through decisions that matter enormously to their families and their futures.”
Amy Greer said of her decision to join Buckles: “Buckles has built an excellent reputation across the region and beyond, with growth in recent years that made it an obvious choice for the next stage of my career.
“Private client work is as much about people as the law and clients are often facing difficult conversations about the future, so it matters that advice is delivered not only with care, but in practical, plain language.
“Being able to work closely with colleagues across the Corporate, Commercial Property, Family and Contentious Probate teams means clients get truly comprehensive, joined-up support, which is increasingly important as estates become more complex.”
Timothy Metcalfe added: “I grew up in Cambridgeshire, so joining a busy and ambitious team is a real opportunity to build my career close to home, but connecting with the community around the Cambridge office too.
“There is a lot of change for clients to navigate, particularly for those with family wealth, trusts or ties overseas and Buckles international offering will help me tailor outcomes to each client’s circumstances, so they can protect what they have built for the next generation.”
Jackson concludes: “Amy and Tim are valuable additions to a team that continues to grow, and their appointments reflect our ongoing investment in the people and expertise our clients have come to rely on.”
