Dementa is set to be the 21st century’s biggest killer – according to the Alzheimer’s Society – with around 220,000 loved ones developing dementia each year.

The fight against the disease has been taken up by thousands of people across the country, not least by those stepping out to take part in Memory Walks at locations all over the UK.

Joining the many hundreds lacing up their trainers for the Memory Walk in Peterborough next month is Buckles Solicitors LLP partner and head of private client, Stephen Duffy.

Stephen heads up the team largely responsible for Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney – dealing with a high volume of clients who themselves have, or who have a family member living with, dementia.

Through his work with organisations like the Solicitors for the Elderly and Alzheimer’s Society, and Peterborough Dementia Action Allianace, Stephen is able to advise families on financial and care planning, and becoming legally prepared in these areas.

He said: “The Memory Walk is a fantastic event for raising awareness of dementia, which brings with it many challenges for those living with dementia and their families – particularly when it comes to asking legal questions which will affect their future.

“I’m delighted that a number of my colleagues, family and friends have joined Team Buckles for the walk in September. For many people taking part, it is an emotionally charged day, but one which raises thousands of pounds for a tremendous cause.”

The Peterborough Memory Walk takes place at Ferry Meadows on Sunday 17 September. For more details or information on other walks around the country visit https://www.memorywalk.org.uk
