Originally from Co Donegal in Ireland, I first qualified in Northern Ireland in 2003 and subsequently in the Republic of Ireland in 2005. Whilst practising in Ireland I took the necessary steps to qualify in England and Wales and made the move here in 2013. Having worked as a Private Client lawyer in another large national firm for the last ten years, I was delighted to make the move to Buckles in July 2024, where I have taken up the role of Senior Associate.
Throughout my many years of experience, I have provided comprehensive advice in all areas of Private Client law. I have undertaken Estate planning, Wills , Powers of Attorney together with estate and trust administration for varying types of clients from individuals with non-complex assets and affairs to farming and business clients requiring collaboration with accountants and financial advisors.
I have assisted many clients with family wealth and asset preservation and guided others through challenging circumstances and decisions in some of the most difficult times of their lives. I have experience in assisting vulnerable clients and their families and dealing sensitively with capacity issues.
With estate planning, I am driven by helping my clients to identify and then achieve their true objectives when planning for the future. For some clients that may be minimising tax liabilities and for others the focus is to protect hard earned assets for the next generation. I particularly enjoy helping clients to identify a structure or plan personalised to them and their needs and to then draft their documents accordingly.
With estate administration, I appreciate that unfortunately we meet clients at one of the most challenging situations they will face in their lives. They will be dealing with the pain and grief of having lost a loved one whilst also the stress of what can seem an overwhelming estate administration process.
My priority is to always treat you with compassion and care whilst ensuring that all the formalities and legalities of the administration of your loved one’s estate is dealt with efficiently and professionally.
My clients have described my approach as professional, yet personal. It is important to me to take an interest in my clients’ entire family, needs and wishes and because of this approach, I am lucky to receive lots of repeat business from clients that I have known and assisted for years.
I am a member of STEP and hold Advanced Certificates in STEP Administration of Estates and STEP Administration of Trusts.
Outside of work I am a busy mother of two young girls and mostly spend my ‘spare’ time driving from one activity, drop off or pick up to the next! However, I do find some time to attend a local gym and watch the odd Gaelic Football match!
