Notary Public for You
Access to services – COVID-19 information
Access to our offices is now severely restricted until the current restrictions on movement are lifted and, save for in exceptional circumstances, we cannot hold face to face meetings at the office.
However, we will try to continue to provide notarial services as far as we can, whilst complying with government guidance.
Whilst it is not possible in all circumstances, we can deal with the notarisation of documents in a number of ways, including:
- Video conferencing
- Post and email
- “Meetings at a distance” (usually through a glass screen or window)
Whilst we cannot guarantee that any of these methods will be suitable for your transaction, please do contact us so that we can discuss possible ways forward during these unprecedented times.
Update – 9 April 2020
The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (“FCO”) has now partially re-opened its Apostille section, which means that the process of legalisation of documents after they have been notarised can now be completed.
Please note that the FCO has only re-opened the section to certain registered business users (referred to as “Consular Agents”) and only at a limited capacity. This means that whilst we can now deal with legalisation following notarisation of documents, the process is likely to take longer than normal and will incur an additional fee, charged by the Consular Agent. Please contact us for further details.
If you require documents to be authenticated for use overseas, Michael Rabbett can offer this service. Based at our Peterborough office, Michael is a qualified Notary Public and can offer the service from any of our other locations in the UK.
The Notary’s signature and seal will verify to the authorities in any country that the relevant checks have been carried out and that your documents are authentic.
The following services are available to individuals:
- Preparing and witnessing Powers of Attorney for use overseas
- Dealing with documents relating to the purchase or sale of land and property abroad
- Providing documents to deal with the administration of the estates of people who live (or die) abroad, or own property abroad
- Authenticating personal documents and information for immigration or emigration purposes, or applications to marry or to work abroad
