With the countdown already on for this year's Perkins Great Eastern Run – city law firm Buckles Solicitors is stepping up its support of the popular half marathon.

Runners will be pounding the streets and pavements around Peterborough for the half marathon on Sunday 9 October, with Buckles a proud partner and sponsor of the event.

Some members of staff will be taking part in the half marathon and also the Anna's Hope fun run – and are currently in training for the event, using the Buckles gym as part of their preparation.

Among those taking part for the first time is solicitor and busy working mum of two Katy Jarratt-Poole, from Buckles' company commercial department – who's training partner is her five-year-old Border Terrier Flynn!

Hoping to beat her personal trainer husband at his own game, Katy said: "He loves any kind of endurance event and knocks out marathons and ironman triathlons like they are 5km park runs! I got to the point where I was getting a bit annoyed at arriving home from a days work having picked up our boys from nursery to find that he had already lycra'd up and gone out for a run or biking.

"I felt like I needed to do something for myself and have a flexible hobby to force a role reversal, so signing up for GER seemed like a good idea, and of course supporting the Little Miracles charity."

Katy will be joined on the starting line by other colleagues, including solicitor Louise Read from the Nottingham office, Peterborough-based head of marketing Duncan Basford, conveyancing executive, James Munn and GER veteran Martin Herson.

Buckles Managing Partner Colleen Gostick said: "Once again, this is a fantastic opportunity to support one of the region's major sporting events.

"With staff being able to benefit from our onsite gym, several members of staff have already signed up for the event – and for the Anna's Hope fun run – and we wish them all the best in training for October's event."
