Vital funds to help and support bereaved families in and around the Peterborough have been raised by Buckles Solicitors LLP.

Staff at the law firm donated over £2,200 to city-based charity Little Miracles, following a series of in-house fundraising events.

The money will be used to help fund one of the charity’s crucial services – bereavement counselling for parents and siblings following the death of a child.

Little Miracles supports thousands of children and families locally who have additional needs – providing everything from daily play schemes, a sensory room and information about disabled services to a range of professional counselling services – all from their purpose-built centre in the city.

Michelle King, founder of Little Miracles, said: “We are enormously grateful to the staff at Buckles for choosing to support our charity and for the wonderful donation which will help us to pay for  just over a month’s worth of expert and professional bereavement counselling.

“The cost of running this service is around £494 a week. Sadly, we have lost 30 children across our service in recent times which has had a major impact on volume of counselling we are needing to provide.

“The loss of a child is unimaginable, which makes the counselling service even more crucial when trying to support the many parents and families affected.”

Sarah Westwood, partner and head of the Stamford office at Buckles Solicitors, added: “The firm has been a long term supporter of Little Miracles and having seen first hand the work this amazing charity is able to offer families and children – with very limited resources amidst a high demand for its services – we are delighted to have been able to help in some small way by easing some of their spending demands.”
