A dementia charity that supports those with dementia, their families and carers in and around Stamford and Bourne has been given a boost by art-loving Buckles Solicitors LLP.

Dementia Support South Lincs runs its own Art For All group, which is open to those with dementia and their carers, meeting on a weekly basis to produce paintings and drawings.

Two of the artists in the group happily allowed Buckles to make a donation to the charity for two pieces of art work – one painted by Francis Addlesee and the other by Jill Chapple, each affected by dementia – and both paintings now have pride of place in office at St Mary’s Hill.

Through her private client work in the areas of writing Wills and power of attorney, Buckles partner Sarah Westwood does a lot work with, and is a keen supporter of, the charity.

She said: “We are thrilled with the paintings. They are really lovely and bright and I hope they will be appreciated as much by our visitors as our team here. It has been a pleasure also to help such a deserving charity.”
DSSL Art for All group meets at Wake House in Bourne every Monday morning between 11am-1pm.

The original idea for the group – the first of its kind in Lincolnshire – came from organiser Barbara Barker whose late husband was affected by dementia, but as an artist painting gave him a great deal of pleasure and normality right until he died.

Barbara was keen to bring art and expression to the lives of those with dementia and their carers. The charity also has its own dementia specialist, Kate Marshall. Information about the charity is available on their website. For more details on how Buckles can help with your private client needs, call 01780 484570 or visit www.buckles-law.co.uk
