Boosting his pedal power in preparation for an epic 300-mile cycle ride is sporting solicitor, James Coppinger.
James, who is partner and head of construction and engineering, is saddling up for the London to Paris bike ride this summer.
James will be cycling an average of 75 miles a day during the gruelling four-day challenge in July www.londonparisbikeride.co.uk.
As well as meeting a personal ambition, James is also boosting funds for EACH (East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices) which is Buckles’ chosen charity for 2015.
He said: “I am always up for a challenge. Some families don’t have a choice, and face what may seem like insurmountable challenges every day. That’s where EACH can help by providing care and support for babies and children up to the age of 18, and their families, living with life limiting and life threatening conditions.”
“The London to Paris ride is one of those challenges I have wanted to do for a very long time but never thought I would get the opportunity to do. When the chance arose and given that EACH is such a worthwhile charity – after a momentary wave of nervousness – I jumped at the chance!”
James’ journey will start off with cycling part of the 2007 Tour de France route from London to Dover. After taking the ferry to Calais the route takes in the extremes of the French rolling countryside and the region of the Somme and the WW1 battlefields, before heading into Paris along the famous Champs Elysees and a finish at the Eiffel Tower.
He added: “I think the hardest part will be getting up in the morning for the 7am starts and possibly the lack of porridge in France! It’s hard to imagine what the feeling will be like when the Eiffel Tower comes into view!”
James’ training regime is well underway, and he is hoping to soon increase his distance to between 40-50 miles each weekend.
He has a number of other events lined up in the build up to the event, starting with a 60 mile sportive on 14 June from Grimsthorpe Castle near Bourne.
