Oar-some rowers from Buckles Solicitors are gearing up for the Peterborough Dragon Boat Festival – preparing to do battle with other local businesses.
The dragon boat racers from the leading law firm have been perfecting their strokes by getting in some practise on the rowing machine in the company gym, with the charity challenge looming on 11 June 2016.
Now in its 18th year, the dragon boat race – held in support of Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice – attracts participants from all over the Peterborough area, as well as thousands of spectators.
Around 52 people are expected on the starting line at Thorpe Meadows, ready to tackle the 200-metre course.
The Buckle’s team is taking a punt on its dragon boat crossing the finishing line ahead of business rivals!
As well as racing there will be plenty of bankside family entertainment including funfair activities, inflatables and children’s rides plus a variety of food stalls and bar.
No strangers to fundraising, Buckles – which has offices in Peterborough, Nottingham and Stamford – are the official sponsors of this year’s Rutland Water Family Bike Ride in aid of the NSPCC and are among the sponsors of October’s Perkins Engines Great Eastern Run.
Throughout 2016, the company is also raising funds for its chosen charity Little Miracles – which supports families that have children with additional needs, disabilities and life limiting conditions.
