Cambridge is well known for its cyclists but today (July 7) sees the arrival of some of the most famous cyclists in the world – the Tour de France. The Tour arrives in Cambridge after a Grand Départ and stage two in Yorkshire. Billions of people will be tuning in to watch footage of riders, including Chris Froome, cycling past Cambridge’s famous sites including King’s College and the Round Church before moving on to Essex to London.
To celebrate this rare opportunity and in support of our French law services, Buckles is taking on its own challenge in the form of a mini Tour in the on-site gym. Staff will be participating in a team time trial challenge of cycling 10km each in the quickest overall time, or an individual “Mont Ventoux” cycling climb which is also 10km but with the exercise bike set at a steep incline. All money raised during the challenge will go to the firm’s nominated office charity, Anna’s Hope.

The Tour de France is a highlight in the sporting calendar, and it is rare for the Tour to come to England, let alone Cambridge, so it’s great to see the region being linked to France. Our very own Tour challenge is not as demanding as the real thing but hopefully the money raised will help to make a difference to Anna’s Hope.”
