Steven Sprague, a Consultant at Buckles Solicitors LLP, has achieved a rare dual-qualification following his recent admission to the Milan Bar as an Italian lawyer or ‘Avvocato’.
Having originally qualified as an Enqlish solicitor, Steven has practiced law in a number of international jurisdictions for over 30 years, and is a partner at CastaldiPartners, a Franco-Italian law firm with whom Buckles formed a strategic alliance in 2016.
Steven is an energy specialist, with experience in all aspects of power generation, transmission, distribution and supply, including trading. His background covers both traditionally generated power and power generated from renewable sources and, in recent years, his practice has expanded to include energy related derivative instruments.
Beyond the energy sector, Steven has expertise in cross-border mergers and acquisitions and direct foreign investment – covering both joint venture or stand-alone – the construction and maintenance of infrastructure and, generally, the internationalisation of enterprises and markets throughout the world.
Acting for a mix of multinational groups and individual investors and promoters, Steven has a particular interest in central and Eastern Europe and the countries of the former Soviet Union.
Steven is a CEDR (Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution) accredited mediator and works in English, Italian, French, Spanish and also speaks some Russian.
Development of the alliance over the past 12 months has seen Buckles expand into Paris and Milan and the opening of a joint office with CastaldiPartners in London.
