Leading law firm Buckles Solicitors have been re-accredited with a major eco award which recognises the company’s continued commitment to the environment.
The firm has maintained its Green status – the highest possible accolade – presented through the Investors in the Environment (IiE) scheme.
Auditors recently visited the Peterborough office to conduct an in-depth reassessment of Buckles’ achievements and ongoing work.
Buckles was first presented with the award last year, and over the past few months has been actively improving on its commitment, by implementing a series of changes, including:
- Reducing electricity usage by 15 per cent
- Changing all staff computers to more efficient models, reducing power usage from 250 watts per hour to 55 watts per hour – leading to an approximate annual saving of £800
- All toilet systems have been adjusted to save approximately 1.5 litres of water per flush
- Encouraging staff to recycle more efficiently by introducing separate general waste and recycling bins, to monitor how much waste is going to landfill
- Printing double-sided where possible to reduce paper usage
- Planting 250 trees in January 2015 as part of the Forest for Peterborough initiative
