About

I became Buckles’ first ever CEO in April 2018, taking up the role after serving the firm for more than 20 years. As Chief Executive, I lead the firm, shaping and implementing strategy, as well as promoting effective relationships and open communication. I’m a Wealth Preservation specialist, focusing particularly on Inheritance Tax planning and Trusts.

Prior to becoming CEO, I was head of our London office and played a key role in establishing BUCKLESconnect, a free referral network that allows member law firms across the UK to access Buckles’ specialist legal services.

I’m one of a select group of solicitors to hold a Financial Planning Certificate and previously sat on the Law Society’s Financial Services Panel.

Having joined the firm as a trainee solicitor in 1995, I qualified as both a solicitor and an independent financial adviser in 1997. Shortly afterwards, I became one of the youngest lawyers to serve on the Law Society’s Investment Business Working Party.

In 2001, I set up Buckles’ office in Stamford which rapidly expanded and continues to thrive today. I then returned to our Peterborough office as head of the Private Client department in 2006. Serving in the position for ten years, I was instrumental in helping the department quadruple in size and establish itself as one of the biggest departments of its kind in the region.

I contribute to various legal and local publications and I’m frequently invited by third parties to speak on ‘The Effective use of Wills and Trusts’.

Aside from work, I regard myself as an enthusiastic but limited cook and I’m a fan of all sports involving a ball. When I’m not working I love relaxing in the beautiful county of Cornwall.

A Legal 500 leading individual, Duncan has also been ranked in the Hall of Fame, defined by Legal 500 as “…individuals who have received constant praise by their clients for continued excellence.”
