Collaborative law is a new approach to divorce, designed to achieve agreement between husband and wife on how assets should be divided without the stress and cost of going to Court. It is a relatively new practice to the UK but has been welcomed by courts as a sensible alternative to courtroom disputes and in the last two years the process has dramatically spread across the UK. In the UK divorces have traditionally been done by talking through lawyers with the opposite party’s responses being relayed back, discussions had and letters sent. This draws out a process that is already highly emotional for the individuals and families concerned.
Our team of lawyers, who are trained in the collaborative law process, work with you, your partner and their lawyer to go through the legal and financial issues in a round table format. The process is driven by you with your lawyer there to provide guidance on legal matters, with the aim of producing a settlement that is constructive for both you and your family.
