A civil partnership is not, as many think, a marriage between same sex couples. It is a process of registering a same sex relationship so that the couple has the same legal rights towards each other as married couples.
Civil partnerships have wide reaching effects, for example on pensions, housing rights, state benefits and so on. Same sex couples can also be considered by child adoption panels. Civil partnerships can acquire parental rights over their partner's child by being the step parent.
If the civil partnership breaksdown, then we can assist in acting for you in the dissolution of the partnership. The process is almost the same as a divorce, with one or two slight differences.
If you have any questions about civil partnership or issues relating to civil partnerships we would be happy to discuss with you.
