Karl joined Buckles Solicitors as a Partner in our Private Client department in September 2017. Based at our London office, he is highly experienced in dealing with matters concerning Wills and probate, trusts, powers of attorney and Court of Protection applications, and capital gains and inheritance tax planning.
Being co-located with our team of international lawyers at our London office allows Karl to liaise closely with them to help deliver private client legal services to high net worth clients with French and Spanish estates.
He has particular expertise in assisting elderly and vulnerable clients, and his wider client base includes notable figures in the music industry and academic world.
Karl is currently President of the Cambridgeshire and District Law Society, as well as being a full member of STEP (Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners) and a representative on its Global Mental Capacity Steering Committee. In 2016, he received the STEP Worldwide Excellence Award on completion of an Advanced Certificate in Advising Vulnerable Clients.
Previously a Partner at another firm in Cambridge, he is an Italian speaker have been educated across Europe.
Karl holds a degree in theology from KU Leuven in Belgium and an MBA from the School of Management & Business, University of Aberystwyth. His doctorate in canon law is the result of studying in Rome, where he achieved the highest award of Summa Cum Laude, prior to his time at De Montfort University where he completed a course in law conversion.
