Duncan is Buckles’ first ever CEO, taking up the role in April 2018 after serving the firm for more than 20 years. As Chief Executive, he leads the firm, shaping and implementing strategy, as well as promoting effective relationships and open communication. Duncan is a Wealth Preservation specialist, focusing particularly on Inheritance Tax planning and Trusts.
In his most recent position, Duncan was head of our London office and played a key role in establishing BUCKLESconnect, a free referral network that allows member law firms across the UK to access Buckles’ specialist legal services.
He is one of a select group of solicitors to hold a Financial Planning Certificate and previously sat on the Law Society's Financial Services Panel.
Having joined the firm as a trainee solicitor in 1995, Duncan qualified as both a solicitor and an independent financial adviser in 1997. Shortly afterwards, he became one of the youngest lawyers to serve on the Law Society’s Investment Business Working Party.
In 2001, Duncan set up Buckles’ office in Stamford which rapidly expanded and continues to thrive today. He then returned to our Peterborough office as head of the Private Client department in 2006. Serving in the position for ten years, Duncan was instrumental in helping the department quadruple in size and establish itself as one of the biggest departments of its kind in the region.
Duncan contributes to various legal and local publications and is frequently invited by third parties to speak on 'The Effective use of Wills and Trusts'.
Chambers UK 2016 commends Duncan: "His explanations are very simple yet detailed enough that nothing is missed out; they are not so technical that clients are bemused. He's a very reassuring character."
