Colleen was appointed the firm’s Chairman in April 2018 following seventeen years of award-winning* service in the role of Managing Partner. As Chairman, Colleen is an Ambassador for Buckles, developing and nurturing relationships with internal and external stakeholders across all of the firm’s geographical locations, easing the effective implementation of the firm’s strategy and promoting the highest standards of integrity, probity and corporate governance.
Colleen became the firm’s youngest partner in 1989, the first woman to hold this position in its 200-year history. Under her leadership, strategic clarity and extensive investment in expansion, infrastructure, staff engagement and quality management standards saw the firm transformed, picking up many awards and accreditations along the way and becoming recognised as one of the top 500 law firms in the UK and a major player amongst legal firms in the region.
Colleen holds a strong track record of engagement with businesses including being a Director of Opportunity Peterborough, the UK's first urban regeneration company, and serving as a Judge for both the Institute of Directors East of England Businesswomen Awards and the Peterborough Evening Telegraph Business Awards.
She is a highly regarded Commercial Property lawyer with extensive experience of all aspects of Commercial Property work, acting for clients with portfolios across the UK and Europe. Colleen is also a Consultant to Franco-Italian law firm CastaldiPartners, with offices in Paris and Milan.
Chambers UK 2019 ranked Colleen as an Eminent Practitioner in her field. Sources describe her as "She's a very good, pragmatic lawyer; when there are issues, she explains them and offers an opinion on the risks so that the client can make a commercial decision."
