As part of our efforts to promote Mental Health Awareness Week 2022, Buckles Solicitors is getting involved with Mental Health UK initiatives to encourage staff to check in with colleagues and offer support where needed.

This year’s campaign is as much about empowering people to support their friends, family and colleagues as it is about providing direct help to those experiencing mental health issues.

Loneliness is the focus of Mental Health Awareness Week 2022 and staff at Buckles are taking up Mental Health UK’s “Kindness Challenge” by expressing kindness in various ways to themselves and those around them. The firm is also highlighting a range of external resources and tools that can be accessed to support good mental health, which includes a webinar to help employees control worry and deal with stress.

Buckles Chief Information Officer, Mel Smith, said: “The impact of the last two years on mental health cannot be underestimated. As individuals and collectively as a firm we need to do all we can to support those, within the firm and outside, whose mental health has deteriorated.

“To this end, Line Mangers at Buckles have undertaken Mental Health Awareness Training and we have designated Mental First Aiders in the workplace who can act as a point of contact for an employee who is experiencing a mental health issue or emotional distress. This interaction could range from having an initial confidential and non-judgemental conversation through to supporting the person to get appropriate help.”
