The members of our Agricultural Team come from a wide range of disciplines across the firm - lawyers specialising in property, tax, trust and wealth preservation services, matrimonial and other family disputes and corporate services.
Many law firms have traditionally treated agricultural work as an extension of their property department, and in doing so fail to take into account the wide range of specialist and often complex issues which affect those involved in what is one of the country’s most important (and most heavily regulated) industries.
Our approach is different and means we are able to offer our agricultural clients a comprehensive and seamless service. So when we deal with a “traditional” property matter (such as the disposal and acquisition of a farming estate) for a farming client we also give thought to the possible tax, inheritance and family issues which might arise. The same is true when advising in family disputes – the tax and inheritance issues are dealt with as a matter of course.
Family issues are about more than divorce. Preventative measures can be considered, particulary as co-habitation agreements and pre-nuptial agreements grow in popularity. Again lawyers from our family and wealth preservation teams work together to provide comprehensive advice on estate trust issues.
Finally, we offer farming clients access to our top class corporate team to handle company issues which may arise for clients whose business has a limited company as its main vehicle and to our corporate and property litigation teams when business disputes arise.
