Simon Kenneally

I joined Buckles as a Partner in the Commercial Property department in 2022 from a firm in the City of London.

Primarily, I advise property developers who wish to acquire sites for residential, commercial and mixed-use development and land owners selling their property to developers. This includes everything from advising initial negotiations and deal structure through to practical completion and site set-up for plot sales. At Buckles, we offer a full rounded advice to property developers and sellers, including advising planning law and construction law.

I also specialise in advising on Airspace Development which is a niche area that requires bespoke advice. I offer initial appraisals to developers and to owners of buildings to ascertain whether a roof will be suitable for Airspace Development and act all the way through a project to granting of leases of built-out flats.

Aside from property development, I am experienced in acting in pension scheme property matters and am frequently instructed to advise on commercial leases and investment sales and purchases.

I believe in adding value to my clients’ projects through pro-active project management and costs transparency. I am also pleased to introduce my clients to anyone in my network who might assist with their project, from valuers to surveyors, lenders and anyone else who might assist in getting a deal done.

I am a member of the Association of Rooftop and Airspace Developers, and frequently give talks and seminars on Airspace Development.

In my spare time, I like playing the piano and the guitar, tending to my veg patch, cooking on the BBQ and playing board games. I’m interested in art and the history of art, read science fiction books, have an encyclopaedic knowledge of musical theatre, and support Everton Football Club and Gloucester Rugby.
