I’m a commercial property lawyer with more than 16 years’ experience in the retail industry as director of a number of retail businesses. I’ve worked with leading brands to develop new retail concepts and with property owners to deliver innovative development solutions for challenging sites, leading to extensive knowledge of franchising and concession agreements.
After training and qualifying as a solicitor at Geldards, I joined Shoosmiths where I acted for a wide range of top tier clients, predominantly in the retail sector. I’ve developed considerable knowledge of retail, concessions and franchising and experience in complex, high value agreements, including roadside services, train station and airport concessions and leases. I act for a number of property developers assisting on the whole life cycle of their developments through from option agreements, site acquisition, development agreements, agreements for lease, lease and disposal.
My commercial experience, combined with my understanding of the issues and pressures faced by directors and managers, leads me to be a calm and creative negotiator who provides clear and pragmatic advice, allowing clients to focus on their business.
Outside work I love to travel, particularly around South East Asia where I worked in my early career. South East Asia also inspires much of my other favourite past-time, cooking – my beef rendang and barbecued pork are legendary (if only in my own living room).
