Jessica Zama

I joined Buckles in July 2019 as an Associate in our International department. I’m dually qualified as a Solicitor in England and Wales and an “Avvocato Stabilito”, registered with the “Ordine degli Avvocati di Roma” (the Rome Bar Association), and I’m bilingual in English and Italian.

I assist clients with all Italian legal matters, specialising in estate planning for individuals with assets in Italy, Italian Wills, estate administration, Italian succession law and procedure, purchase/sale of properties in Italy and Italian citizenship applications.  I can also assist clients with disputes in Italy, in either civil or criminal proceedings, working closely with our Milan office, our associated firm CastaldiPartners, and other local specialist Avvocati.

Having left Italy to attend Durham University, I graduated with an LLB in Law in 2005. I trained with a UK regional firm, following completion of my LPC, and worked in the UK for two years post-qualification before returning to Italy.

After initially working for an established Italian law firm, I established a boutique firm in Rome with an English colleague, advising and assisting clients worldwide on legal matters in Italy and working closely with the British Embassy in Rome. During my career to date, I’ve developed an extensive network of trusted and respected professionals in Italy, with whom I continue work closely on matters.

Client care is at the heart of the legal services I provide. I ensure that clients are fully aware of any risks, procedure and costs involved in dealing with legal matters.

Outside of work I really enjoy F45 Hiit classes, and an occasional yoga class (although I am not very good!). I love travelling as much as possible, especially to Rome where I enjoy an aperitivo with friends and family. I also cherish reading a good book, although I do not do this enough, when not on holiday.

  • From the outset the whole process was clearly explained as were the projected costs. Jessica was extremely helpful, efficient and professional, and ensured that I was always kept up to date with developments. Queries were answered promptly and I am particularly pleased that I took her advice early on to immediately start the onerous task of trying to arrange an appointment at the Italian consulate!

  • I am writing to express my thanks for the fantastic service I received from Jessica Zama with a problem accessing money held in an Italian bank account in my late husband’s name in the absence of a valid Italian will.  From my initial email contact, I felt reassured by her professional yet friendly manner and this was reinforced at our first face-to-face meeting.  Jessica demonstrated both efficiency and sensitivity during the information-gathering process at what was clearly a very stressful time for me and the rapport we developed in that session continued throughout the progress of the case.  Jessica kept me informed at every stage and I was pleasantly surprised at the length of time it took from initial contact to satisfactory completion of the matter.  Based on my experience, I would have no hesitation in recommending Buckles and Jessica in particular.  Thank you so much for such excellent professional yet personal support when it was most needed.

  • 7 years ago, I lost my father to cancer and unfortunately my relationship with my step mother had broken down to the point where we only spoke through solicitors, I want to extend my biggest thanks and appreciation to Jessica Zama. She has been a god send to my family and I, she kept us updated through every stage of the process of selling a house in Italy, has been very meticulous in her approach to everything and nothing was too much for her. She is kind, compassionate and caring about each and every one of her clients. Thank you Jessica!
