I qualified as an Abogado (Spanish Qualified Lawyer) with the equivalent of the Law Society in Alicante in 1994. I’ve practised in the UK since 2007 and qualified as an English Solicitor in 2011. I act for British clients with interests in Spain and for Spanish Banks, companies and individuals in relation to commercial and litigation enforcement proceedings in the UK.
I hold a PhD in Spanish Tax and specialise in tax, wealth management and litigation, particularly in double taxation issues and cross border litigation cases and their enforcement. I also have an in-depth knowledge of international private law issues.
I act for clients in complex property litigation matters and advise Spanish and British banks in property and lending transactions, debt recovery and insolvency matters. I’ve successfully conducted negotiation processes in which one of the parties was either a Spanish bank or a property developer. I also advise and liaise with other UK solicitors and accountants in relation to inheritance tax and wealth preservation issues.
I regularly speak at an International Law Congress in Spain and I’ve written several articles about international taxation.
I am passionate about music, particularly jazz musicians like Duke Ellington, John Coltrane or Miles Davis. I love history and all books that I take with me on holiday are either historical fiction or by classic authors.
My favourite weekend would be hosting a paella lunch (cooked by me) for friends at home and make it last until dinner time, or later.
