Our Trainee programme is comprehensive and Buckles are proud of the success the scheme has achieved over the years.

A Buckles Partner supervises all trainees and works closely with the HR director in ensuring that the very best training is offered. After an induction process, trainees will join a departmental team for a period of 6 months. At the end of each 6 month period the trainee will join another team until they have completed a cycle of 4 "seats". These will be a mixture of contentious and non-contentious law.

The training programme allows individuals to develop their understanding of the different legal specialisations before making an educated decision on which area they wish to pursue as their career.

At all stages of the trainee programme, individuals are able to discuss their training with the trainee supervisor to ensure that the correct guidance and development is received. This ongoing support is formalised in 6 monthly appraisals.

Academically, trainees will need to possess a law degree or a Post Graduate Diploma in Law to apply. They must also be able to demonstrate diligence, commitment, approachability and a good sense of humour. We generally take on either one or two new trainees each year.
